We Are All A Work In Progress…
If you are anything like me, you can be hard on yourself when pondering those parts of your life that need improvement, especially if those areas have been unsatisfactory for a while. And when we do get mad at ourselves for falling short of our fictitious benchmark of personal success, the act of self-degradation triggers a slew of down-market emotions: dissatisfaction, stress, scarcity and anxiety. Which brings on a real shit show of negativity and self-incrimination. So what’s a deliberate creator to do who wants to upgrade the quality of his/her life?
Well first, how quickly we forget that the parts of our life where we are now satisfied, at one time, were just a glimmer in our eye. And while those segments were unfurling into realized upgrades and dreams, they also needed improvement, goading, touching up along the way. There wasn’t a magic wand that we waived and presto we were good at our job, great parents, magnificent lovers, stalwart friends, exceptional at our hobbies, in great shape, etc.
Here’s the thing to wrap your head around Creator, you will never get it all done. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but there is always something that pops up calling our attention, e.g., a project to start, a part of our life to improve on, a dream to be realized. It also helps to remember that those things that we take for granted now, were also once elusive and unrealized.
Here’s my solution - when I’m down on myself and feeling anxious - I begin looking at and appreciating those parts of my life that are smooth sailing and satisfying (either out loud - the car is a great place to do this, or in my journal). Appreciating - the highest vibration you can flow, right at the top with love, empowerment, passion - is a sure fire way to upgrade your frequency. Which in turn upgrades your life with feelings of satisfaction, progress and fulfillment.
Everything that we are looking to improve upon, create and manifest is part of a process and rather than get down on yourself because something is taking too long, or not yet realized, how about you recognize that everything has a rollout and ramp-up period and there will always bumps here and there, it’s just how life works.
Which means, when you appreciate what is working, you can easily focus on those parts of your life that require improvement with a new eye, one that sees those life-projects and work-projects as a part of life’s journey. In other words, view it from the owner’s box rather than from down in the trenches.
Try this next time you are about to beat yourself up, stop and give yourself a break by recognizing those segments of your life that are working and working well. After all being a human is not easy and if you do have areas of your life that you feel proud of, well then, give yourself credit for a job well done.
And for those areas that require a bit more work and attention, remind yourself that they are works in progress and are unfolding in their perfect time. And then, take a look around, no one has this ‘Life Thang’ on lock, no one. We are all marching ever forward, one step, one improvement, one day, one moment at a time. And take note that a little bit of improvement, self-awareness and mindfulness each day adds up quickly. That’s called progress!
How about today you begin by treating yourself with love and kindness? Because what I do know for triple darn sure is that when you act as a supportive partner to yourself, then everything falls into place more easily and life is a lot more fun. But don’t take my word for it, give it a try and see if you not only feel better, but those improvements you’ve been wanting, seem to fall into place effortlessly.
That’s all I’ve got for today. Until next time Creator…
